- Every hour, nearly 100 domestic abuse-related crimes are reported in the UK.
- 80% of women feel unsafe walking alone at night.
- 45% feel uncomfortable using public transport alone.
Personal safety and self defence are major concerns for many women. But what if you knew how to spot danger early, stay in control, and protect yourself if needed?
Sophie’s Story When Self Defence Makes the Difference
It was a dark October night at 10:37 PM.
Sophie had waited at this bus stop hundreds of times before. The street was quiet, dimly lit by distant streetlights. A few cars passed now and then, but the road was mostly empty.
She didn’t feel unsafe until she did.
A man walked past, slowed down, and stopped nearby. He wasn’t waiting for the bus.
She ignored him, hoping he’d move on. But then.
A hand on her wrist. A tight grip.
Her stomach dropped. A surge of panic shot through her.
For a split second, she froze. Then something clicked.
She remembered her self defence training. Her instructor’s words echoed in her mind.
“Don’t fight their strength, use technique.”
Instead of pulling away, she twisted towards his thumb, the weakest part of his grip, just like she had practised. His fingers slipped apart, and she yanked her arm free.
She stepped back, hands up, and met his eyes.
“Don’t touch me.”
Her voice was loud, firm. Other people turned to look. The man hesitated, then walked away.
Her heart was still racing, but she was safe.
If this had happened months ago, before she started training, she wouldn’t have known what to do. But now she did
